Show me the money

President Donald Trump’s campaign reportedly hauled in $331 million in the year’s second quarter outraising the Biden campaign by nearly $70 million. The news comes as several high profile Democrat donors announced they would be withholding donations unless Biden dropped out of the race.

On Thursday Abigail Disney, heir to the Disney family fortune and a major party donor, told CNBC,

“I intend to stop any contributions to the party unless and until they replace Biden at the top of the ticket.  This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high… If Biden does not step down the Democrats will lose. Of that I am absolutely certain. The consequences for the loss will be genuinely dire.”

Media tycoon Barry Diller followed suit. The Guardian reported, “when asked by the Ankler if he [Diller] and his wife, the designer Diane von Fürstenberg, were holding firm with Biden’s campaign, he replied: ‘No.’”

Though the Trump campaign revealed some impressive numbers, donations to the Biden Campaign were nothing to downplay. The AP made sure to point out that Trump was actually outraised in June. In fact, the campaign reported $111.8 million to the Biden campaign’s $127 million it purportedly raised last month. That staggering amount also includes a whopping $33 million raised in one day by the President’s campaign.

As calls for Biden to step aside grow louder some speculate that even more donors will be sitting on the sidelines. Not one to let an opportunity get away, President Trump challenged President Biden to another “no holds barred” debate. Late Thursday evening, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to post:

“I have the answer to the Crooked Joe Biden Incompetence Puzzle — Let’s do another Debate, but this time, no holds barred – An all on discussion, with just the two of us on stage, talking about the future of our Country.”

After Biden’s poor debate performance, one can only speculate whether he will accept the former President’s offer.
