The Iceberg Called Illegal Immigration – Below the Surface Lurks Trouble We Can’t See

There are two issues pressing on the minds of voters – the economy and illegal immigration.

The President and members of his administration are convinced that repeating something over and over will make it true – or at least overcome voters’ rightful skepticism and turn them, zombie-like, into believers:

The economy is grand. The border is secure.

Neither is the case. At the pump and in grocery stores, Americans – middle class Americans, in particular – are stung when it comes time to pay.

But illegal immigration presents a much darker picture. What we’re told is upsetting. But what we learn only by our own efforts – tracking down reports through deep internet searches – is every bit as troubling.

Some background.

Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965

Prior to 1965, U.S. immigration policy was governed by the National Origins Formula, which heavily favored immigrants from Northern and Western Europe.

Key Changes: The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, also known as the Hart-Celler Act, abolished the quota system based on national origin. It established a new immigration policy based on reuniting immigrant families and attracting skilled labor to the U.S.

Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996

Key Changes: This legislation, signed by President Bill Clinton, increased enforcement at U.S. borders, implemented stricter penalties for immigration-related crimes, and expedited the deportation process for certain non-citizens.

It marked a tougher stance on illegal immigration, reflecting growing concerns about border security and the social impact of undocumented immigration.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) - 2012

Introduced by the Obama administration, DACA provided temporary relief from deportation and work authorization to eligible undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.

Significance: DACA was a significant policy change that affected hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants, though it did not provide a path to citizenship.

Just some of what we know.

In February, Georgia nursing student Lakin Riley was allegedly raped and murdered by Jose Ibarra, 26, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. Ibarra was known as a member of the Tren de Aragua gang. Who knew it? According to the NY Post, Homeland Security.

On Feb. 25, a Honduran illegal was arrested in Kenner, Louisiana, after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at knife-point.

In May, Los Angeles County Sheriffs arrested Mexican illegal Eduardo Sarabia in the white van he’d outfitted to be a "rape dungeon on wheels." Sarabia allegedly kidnapped and raped two women.

The El Salvadorian illegal arrested this month for allegedly raping and murdering Rachel Morin was also wanted for assaulting a mother and her 9-year-old daughter during a Los Angeles home break-in.

Most recently, Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, illegally in the U.S. from Ecuador, allegedly attacked a 13-year-old girl in Queens as she walking home from school. Geovanny not only raped her, but he also recorded it from start to finish.

What Americans are just discovering.

Betsy McCaughey, the New York state Lieutenant Governor under George Pataki, penned a powerful commentary for RealClearPolitics. (Read the article)

She opens the door wide on a horrific sickness that rolled into the U.S. with the Biden border invasion. McCaughey writes:

“The United Nations calls it ‘femicide,’ the wanton assault, rape and murder of girls and women. It's a cultural epidemic in Latin America.

“Femicide is visible every step of the way from South America and the Northern Triangle countries to the Mexico-U.S. border. Rape trees, where women's panties hang from branches, and rape tents, where girls and women are dragged by smugglers, dot the route. Do you think the rapes stop when illegals cross into the U.S.? No.

“Now women are being victimized by migrants bringing femicide to your neighborhood. Where are the women's rights groups? Silent. They couldn't care less. It's politically incorrect to criticize Latin American culture – even its tolerance for violence against females.”

This had been labeled a myth by our media. But the UN has had a term for it. Now, finally, the American people are learning of it.

Lest we forget.

Since January of 2021, Merrill Matthews of the Institute for Policy Innovation in Dallas, estimates 10 million illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021 (IPI).

They join ten million more illegal aliens already believed to be here.

Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claims our borders are safe. But the growing number of crimes – including violent crimes like those noted earlier – tell a different tale.

And then there is these disturbing incidents, rarely, if ever making the evening news, but increasing in frequency, nonetheless:

On May 3, the main gate of Quantico Marine Base was breeched by two Jordanian nationals in a box truck claiming they worked for a company contracted to Amazon. Initially, the men were stopped while guards attempted to verify their story. But the pair tried to drive onto the base against the gate guards' instructions. Vehicle barriers were activated, preventing their entry, and both men were detained.

Investigations revealed that both individuals were in the country illegally. One had been apprehended crossing the border, held for just 24 hours, and then released pending a hearing at an unspecified future date, in line with current border policies. Reports indicate he was on the terror watch list, but this information was not accessed before his release. The second individual had entered the country on a student visa, never attended classes, and disappeared.

Two days later, May 5, a vehicle crashed into the gate at the White House, killing the driver.

In late April, a similar attempt occurred at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, also resulting in the driver’s death.

In late March, a Chinese national was detained trying to access the Marine base at Twenty-Nine Palms.

The House Homeland Security Committee reported that as of late 2023, there had been over 100 instances of Chinese nationals attempting unauthorized entry into secure U.S. military installations.

As we’ve moved closer to November, Democrats and the White House have suddenly shifted gears and now readily claim there is trouble along our southern border. They place the blame on Republicans.

Biden inherited a mess. The Trump administration had its fair share of immigration failings. But the influx had undeniably ebbed, and deportations had risen.

Yet, on February 2, 2021, less than two weeks after taking office, Biden created the current crisis. He stripped away the many Executive Orders Trump had signed to stem the tide, and, more importantly, check those coming across. (Watch the video) Ultimately, Biden’s policies have incentivized coming to the US. Ten million illegal immigrants (and counting) later, here we are.

Aside from the fact that incidents like these should not be occurring at all – the problem is that the American people have to work hard to learn about the entirety of the crisis. It’s unpleasant to think about, but it’s important to keep in mind: on September 11, 2001, 19 terrorist radical Islamists brought the nation to a virtual standstill.
